What really is Turkish coffee?

Many people depend on coffee to wake them up in the morning or to give them an energy boost during the day. Turkish coffee may become the new go-to cup of joe for people who prefer a strong, rich brew. This is because it is prepared in a unique way that results in a powerful flavour.

Middle Eastern and European nations, such as Turkey, Iran and Greece, are where the Turkish coffee preparation method first appeared. It is prepared by blending water with finely ground coffee beans (frequently with sugar) and boiling the mixture until it froths and foams, short of boiling. Turkish coffee is processed differently than other types of coffee and it is also served differently. It is unique in that it is served directly into the cup without being filtered, as compared to other varieties where filtering is a necessary step in the production process.

Turks traditionally drink it after a meal with friends and family. It also serves as a form of hospitality and a time for people to catch up on each other’s lives or develop meaningful friendships.
