Moodabidri: A massive protest was held in front of the taluk administration building by the Moodabidri Mahila Congress against the double engine government’s price hike policy and 40% corruption of the MLAs. The protest march was held from the Congress office to the Taluk administration building.

Addressing the protest, former minister K. Abhayachandra Jain said that Umanatha Kotyan is the top corrupt politician in Dakshina Kannada district.

In 3 months as an MLA, he has extorted 25 cents of space in an industrial estate on a government plot in Mulki.  An MLA who claims to be poor is now 500 crores rich. All the development works are done by his son-in-law, MLA’s family members. He said that the people of Moodabidri should wake up and remove the corrupt politician from this election.

Mahila Congress Moodabidri unit president Supriya D. Shetty said that the BJP government is doing injustice to the poor by imposing GST on daily-use items. The life of women has changed due to rising prices. She said that women are not safe in the country. Every woman should raise her voice against the price hike. A petition was submitted to the District Director through Sub-Tahsildar Ramu

Block Congress President Valerian Sequeira, Municipal Councilors Rupa Santhosh Shetty, Mamata Anand, Shakuntala, Suresh Kotyan, Koragappa, PK Thomas, Iqbal Karim, Purandara Devadiga, Jossey Menezes, Puthige Gramm President Praveen Shetty, Members Purushottama Nayak, Valpady Gramm Member Arun Kumar Shetty, former presidents of T.P. Rajani, Savita T.N., former president of Youth Congress Chandrahasa Sanil, Rajesh Kadalkere and others were present.
