Moodbidire: Congress workers staged a protest in front of the taluk administration building on Wednesday against the Tehsildar’s offer to illegally lease the old building near the taluk office to a BJP worker to run a canteen.
Addressing the protestors, former Minister Abhay Chandra Jain said that the Tehsildar had kept the confidentiality of the public tender called for awarding the canteen contract to a BJP worker. However, even though a Congress activist has also applied after learning about the matter, the Tehsildar has approved the application of a BJP activist and given the canteen lease as per the instructions of the MLA.
There is a suspicion that corruption has taken place in this process. Allegations of corruption are already being heard from the public against the taluk office and there is a possibility that the canteen which will be started in the hall will be turned into a collection center of the administrative building. He warned that Congress will continue the protest if the process of awarding canteen leases is not made transparent.
