Moodabidri: Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized 461 gm of gold worth Rs. 23,09,610 from a passenger arriving from Dubai.
The officials intercepted a male passenger from Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday September 27. According to a Customs release issued on September 28, he was trying to smuggle gold concealed in the form of a brown colour coated oil in the motor of a mixer grinder.
After heating and removing the coating, the gold was formed into a rectangular 24 carat bar weighing 461 gm.
Further investigation is on.
