20th year Kambala in Moodabidri from December 24th

Moodabidri: “The 20th year, floodlight lit, Koti-Chennaya Jodukare Kambala will be held on December 24th at the Kadalakere  Nature Reserve, Veerarani Abbakka Sanskriti village in Ontikate”, President of the Kambala Committee Umanatha A. Kotyan told a press conference.

The inaugural program will be held under the chairmanship of Kuldeep M. of Chowtar Palace at 7 am. Collector MR Ravi Kumar will garland the statue of Rani Abbakka. Alangaru Sri Badagu Mahalingeshwar Temple Administrator Moktesara Ishwar Bhat, Alangaru Church Priest Rev. Walter D’Souza, Puttige Noorani Masjid Maulana Ziavull Haque and Kuntadi Sudhir Hegde will launch the Kambala.

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, Minister V. Sunil Kumar, and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will inaugurate the program which will be held at the Fabian Colaso platform at 5 pm. Chief Executive Officer of BJP, CT Ravi, Tourism Minister Anand Singh, Minister Kota Srinivasa Pujari, MLAs from various constituencies, and people’s representatives will be the chief guests.

Kanyana Sadashiva K. Shetty, entrepreneur, and social worker will be felicitated with the 20th-year Koti-Chennaya Kambala honour. He informed that Mr. Bada Pujari, who was the senior owner of Kambala buffalos, will be honored posthumously, the owners of buffalos as Annu Shetty Ladi, Sanjiva Pujari, Kalu Panara, Louis Saldana, Marodi Sridhara Shetty, and modeling professional Arun Bhatt will be honored.

Moodubidiri Kambala has been going on in a systematic manner and hence, is in the first place. This time the Kambala will start at 8 o’clock sharp. So the owners of the buffaloes should cooperate to bring the buffalos to the call, on time. Latecomers will not be admitted.

Moodbidire Mayor Prasad Kumar said that in the Koti-Chennaya Kambala call which is being held this time in Kadalkere, with the aim of making it a zero-waste event, the stalls will be made from eco-friendly natural materials such as leaves, walnut sheets and will be made for the Kambala,  instead of plastic materials. The businessmen have already been called and informed and all the businessmen have consented to the zero waste Kambala. But all the businessmen who come on that day should be given appropriate information about this and everyone should cooperate to make it a zero waste Kambala.

District Kambala Committee Chairman Rohit Hegde, Municipal Standing Committee Chairman Nagaraj Pujari, Moodbidire Kambala Committee Treasurer Bhaskar S Kotyan Irvattur, General Secretary Gunapala Kadamba, District Carpet Committee Jury Convenor Suresh Poojari, Secretary Ranjith Poojari, Meghnath Shetty, Yogish were present in the press conference.
