Moodabidri: A Leopard, approximately 1 year old had fallen into a well at Niddodi (near Kateel). The forest department was unsuccessful in luring it inside the cage that was dropped into the well.
With the help of the Moodabidri forest department, ACF Satish N, RFO Hemagiri Angadi and DyRFO Manjunath Kaniga, and their entire team it was planned to immobilize the leopard and bring it out. The well was too deep and had caved inside where the leopard was hiding. It was dangerous but Dr Meghana sat inside the cage with darts and gun.
The cage was secured with ropes and slowly lowered into the well with the help of locals and the forest department. The Leopard was darted and after sedation, pulled into the cage and the entire cage was lifted. The Leopard was assessed for injuries and released back into the wild by the forest department after it was deemed fit.
The veterinary team headed by Dr Yashaswi consisted of Dr Meghana, Dr Prithvi and Dr Nafisa.
