Moodabidri: Retired Supreme Court Justice Abdul Nazir, originally from Moodbidire, has been appointed as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
As a Supreme Court judge, he delivered justice in many important cases including the Ayodhya verdict and triple talaq. He retired from the Supreme Court on January 4, 2023.
Born on January 5, 1958 in Beluvai Kana, Moodbidire, he completed his B.Com degree from Mahaveera College, Moodbidire and LLB from SDM Law College, Mangalore. He started his legal career in 1983 and was appointed as Additional High Court Judge in 2003. Later he was promoted to full justice. He was appointed as a Supreme Court Justice in 2017 while still a High Court judge. In 2017, triple talaq and in 2019, Ayodhya verdict was delivered in important cases. Abdul Nazir has been appointed as the 3rd Governor of Andhra Pradesh by the President.
