Moodabidri: On Wednesday, on the complaint of the local Dalit Sangharsh Committee and the public, against the liquor shop proposed to be set up in Kallabettu under the municipal jurisdiction, the office bearers of the Jana Jagriti Forum and the office bearers of the project held a meeting at the Zonal Office.
Unauthorized liquor sale is already widespread in Kallabettu. In order to prevent this, it was decided to notify the Excise Department and stop the sale of unauthorized liquor. also inform the District Collector about not granting a license to the proposed liquor shop. There is a college close to this place.
There are more than 70 Dalit families. There are student hostels. The area has a temple, a school, a central school, and several women keep passing by. If a liquor store comes up, an atmosphere of fear will be created here. On the request of the local people to stop this, the Jana Jagriti Forum informed the Excise Department not to grant the permit and it was decided that if the license is granted, the platform will support any legal struggle that the local people intend.
