Moodabidri: A young man was arrested by the police and produced in court on charges of blackmail and later released on bail.
Dhananjaya from Birau area near Moodabidri is the accused.

A call comes from a mobile number to Naveen Chandra, a resident of Suratkal Hosabettu, who is an employee of Adani company in Bykampadi. Dhananjaya who called, introduced himself as Usha, speaking in a girlish tone. The calls kept coming and one day Dhananjay in the guise of Usha suggested that they talk over a video call. During the video call, he showed the private parts of some girl, took a screenshot and after a few days sent it to Naveen Chandra and threatened him to pay 25 thousand, failing which he would send this video clipping to someone else.

Shocked by this, Naveen Chandra made a payment of Rs. 2000/- via Google Pay once. After a few days, he called again and demanded 25 thousand. By this time Naveen has realized that it is not Usha who is calling him and shared the news with his relatives. They advised him to file a complaint with the police and accordingly, Naveen Chandra lodged a complaint with the Suratkal police station. The police had recently arrested Dhananjaya from Moodabidri, registered a case, and produced him in court. Dhananjaya was in judicial custody and was granted bail on Thursday evening
