Moodabidri: The “Nammura Masjidi Nodabanni” program was held on Sunday where people of all faiths visited the renovated Noorani Masjid in Puttige.
Inaugurating the ceremony by distributing aid to the sick, Iswara Bhat, the head priest of Alangaru Mahalingeshwar Temple, said that instead of identifying a person on the basis of his caste and religion, he should be identified on the basis of his honesty. Honesty is important to the works of God. He said that we can build a prosperous India if we live in communal harmony instead of fighting for caste and religion.
MLA Umanatha Kotyan said that human religion is superior to all religions. He said that even if you don’t do favors for others, you shouldn’t bother them. He said that during my tenure, I have worked without discriminating against people on basis of caste and religion.
Melvin Noronha of Pakshikere Sant Jujar Dharmakendra, former minister Abhayachandra Jain, senior journalist Abbusalam, KPCC general secretary Mithun Rai, Puttige Noorani Masjid president Abul Ala Puttige and others were present.
Financial assistance was given to Mahmud Sharas, Jayanti and Stany Prakash D’Souza. Ramjanam, a disabled person working as a mosque worker, was given a walking aid and Anand was given a bicycle.
