Moodabidri: DC waiver seats are being allotted to others. But if the people of the S. C, S. T community camp in the DC Manna land, the officials from the department will immediately come to remove them from there. From now on, the people of the SC and ST communities have built small huts in the DC Manna land and made their homes.
In the meeting of the SC & ST held at the Scouts Guides Kannada Bhavan presided over by Taluk Tahsildar Satchidananda Satyappa Kuchanur, Ramchandra Kembare demanded that the helpless people should be allowed to live without driving them away.
A discussion was held in the meeting of office bearers of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Class Associations. Most of the departmental officials who have to deal with the shortcomings of SC & ST organizations were absent and only a handful of officials were present. Why is there lack of interest and neglect by people’s representatives and government officials when it comes to SC,ST?
Why don’t the people’s representatives who come running to other meetings come to listen to the grievances of people belonging to caste and class? If the department officials do not come, who will solve our problem? Who is the informant? Will you take any action against the errant officials? Municipal Member Koragappa asked Taluk Tahsildar Satchidananda Satyappa Kuchanur who presided over the meeting.
Responding to this question, the Tehsildar said that a notice will be given to the government officials who did not attend the meeting, and the reply of their non-attendance would be sent to the District Collector. He said that appropriate action would be taken against the officials who did not attend the meeting.
Koragappa continued to speak and said that Moodabidri has been declared as taluk, but why has the social welfare department not been in Moodabidri? People here have to go all the way to Mangalore if they have to submit any applications. To his suggestion that the social welfare department should be brought to the attention of the government to have a social welfare department also in Moodabidri, Social Welfare Department Officer K Suresh responded and said that since this system is a system that has to be implemented at the government level, a proposal will be submitted to the government.
Neelaiah said that the people of SC & ST sect are facing a lot of problems in the Gram Panchayat, and D-notice has not been given to those who are housebound in the government land. And he accused the Village Accounts Officers, PDOs of working as slaves of political figures and exploiting Dalits.
Tulsi, a resident of Gandhinagar Kadepalla of Marpadi, has been prevented from building a house by the authorities saying that it is near the road, and the house has been in the same condition for about 20-30 years, and the families of the SC & ST there are suffering.
Ramachandra Kembare of the P sect said that in Dakshina Kannada there are no educational institutes, banks, societies run by the SC & ST people, all the best are growing in the field of business, doesn’t the SC and ST community have that potential? There are more than a thousand government plots in the taluk and if the tehsildars provide the land, we are able to run the industry. He demanded from the tehsildar to give a chance to SC & ST community.
