Moodabidri: A Dalit conference was held at the Samaj Mandir in Moodabidri on behalf of the District Council. Dr. Krishnappa Konchadi, State Coordinator of Adivasi Tribes, Leader of Dalit Rights, inaugurated the conference and said that Dalits and Adivasi community are the original inheritors of this land. But today Dalits who are the original inhabitants of this land are in a position where they are struggling to get 2-3 cents space.
He said that when there is a question of land, health, employment and there are attempts to subject us to oppression and exploitation, we all need to come together with the feeling that we are one and answer through education, organization and struggle.
Dalit grievance meetings are being held in the state and this is only limited to the nomination process and no issues are being resolved. Even the caste leaders are not ready to question the authorities and become rigid. He said that there is an invisible attack on the Dalit community due to which social and economic development is stunted due to which atrocities are increasing. Yadava Shetty, District Secretary of Karnataka Provincial Farmers Association, spoke as the chief guest.
