Moodabidri: In this year’s Police Department recruitment, 10 senior students of Alva’s Education Foundation have been appointed to various posts under the sports quota of the State Government.
Decathlon Athlete Abhishek Shetty has been appointed as a Police Sub-Inspector while 400-metre international sprinter too has been appointed.
High Jumper Supriya, Sprinter Rohit, Weightlifters Prakshit and Yathish Shetty, Handball players Beeresh, Kiran Chaugala, Sameer Kanavi and Shubhakar have been appointed as Police Constable s. All the 10 athletes are students who have received free sports training and education under Alva’s Education Foundation’s Sports Adoption Scheme.
Decathlon Athlete Abhishek Shetty, who has won the title at the Open National Athletics Championships 6 times, has represented the nation in international events 3 times. He has been honoured with the Ekalavya Award by the Government of Karnataka for the year 2019.
