Moodbidri: Alva’s plays the country’s culture. The Alvas Education Foundation, which Virasat has been presenting for the last two and a half decades, is organizing a week-long International Scout Guides Cultural Jamboree this time. This time the Jamboree will be given a special polish by the Agriculture and Science fairs.
To highlight the importance of agriculture, an agricultural fair has been organized on the ground of about 12 acres of Alva’s premises in Jamboree. About 40 types of vegetables, 550 varieties of traditional rice, foreign lettuce, broccoli, zucchini, foreign pumpkin, six varieties of sorrel, 70 varieties of banana, about 700 varieties of domestic rice, sorghum, oilseeds, 40 types of ancient traditional tubers. Yams are grown. More than 150 coconut artworks will be seen.
Two hundred types of Ayurvedic medicinal fruits and nuts, 20 types of nuts, 110 types of foreign fruits, 40 types of vegetables from abroad, different types of grain, different types of vegetables from other states of the country, Chinese cauliflower, 100 types of rice, artwork reflecting the coastal culture in vegetables and fruits and so on. Various types of agriculture will be showcased at the agricultural fair.
Various attractive flowers – rose, sunflower, zinnia, dela, ball flower, and others are cultivated along with assorted vegetables. Over 25 people have worked hard for Krishi Mela for almost four months. Water twice a day and proper nutrition for the environment continue.
Agriculture Fair will be held in around 600 stalls, machinery, nursery, cottage industry, pottery making, nut sheller, handicrafts, basket making items and many other items will be displayed and sold.
Science Fair: A grand science fair is organized to introduce parents to the world of science for all the Scout-Guide students participating in the Jamboree, fostering scientific thinking, highlighting scientific discoveries and the possibilities of using science for science education and the multifaceted development of the community. This science fair has 11 different sections, and each will open learning possibilities.
Department of Elementary, Senior and Undergraduate Science Demonstrations. Demonstration and Competition Section of Inventions by College Students, Demonstration of Inventions by Engineering Students, Demonstration of Medical Science and Various Medical types of equipment and Medical Initiatives, Demonstration of Various Industrial Machinery, Introductory demonstration of inventions of national-level science research centres, a program of team visits to various science education centres, attractive demonstrations of various science clubs, a march of projects and scientific techniques of various government departments, an exhibition of different traditional and scientific toys of the country and computer science based ideathon – Hackathons will be held at the Science Fair. Scientists from ISRO, IISC, DRDO, SITAR etc. organizations will arrive at the science fair, and there will be an opportunity to interact with them. Scientific instruments will be displayed. CPCRI, Agricultural Research Centers will participate.
